FALL FOLIAGE KAYAK TOURS

Millbury, MA

Lake Singletary Tour
Experience a true New England Fall, in true seasonal fashion, by kayak. The plan for the Lake Singletary Fall Foliage Tour is to first meet at the store and then travel down to the put in on Lake Singletary. After a brief paddle instruction and safety talk, we move on to the water for a pleasurable paddle, enjoying the local foliage, and aroma of the fall air. This is a Gem of a paddle that travels the circumference of this picturesque and historic 330 acre lake. During the paddle we will discuss its rich history, visit its interesting waterfront properties, learn about its past and present natural resources, and enjoy all the rich fall colors it has to offer. For instance: "Lake Singletary played an important role throughout American history as a source of power for the local mills, as well as a source of ice for its neighboring city of Worcester. In fact, the gristmill (known today as S & D Spinning Mill), is still in operation, making it one of the oldest continuously operating mills in the United States." This is one of those must do paddles in our historic and scenic Blackstone Valley, so come out and paddle with our experienced guides and enjoy some fall foliage!

Newton, MA

Charles River

The plan for the Charles River Newton Fall Foliage Tour is to first meet at the store and take a five minute walk to our put in on the other side of the Charles River. After a brief paddle instruction and safety talk, we move on to the water for a pleasurable paddle, enjoying the local foliage, and aroma of the fall air. This is a Gem of a paddle that travels along the banks of the upper Charles River bisecting Needham and Newton Ma. Our plan will be to paddle up river on this gentle flowing scenic and historic river through Cutler Park..... Toward Millenium Park and view the changing flora and fauna along the river's edge. "The 800 acres known as Cutler Park comprise the largest remaining fresh water marsh on the middle Charles River. The marshland of phragmites and the small lake attract over 100 species of birds." During this paddle we regularly see deer foraging, blue herrings fishing, and turtles basking in the sun. This is a great way to appreciate all the conservation and park service's hard work in this area, and there is no better time to do it than in the fall!

Meeting Location
Newton EMS. 95 to exit 19a Highland AVE (toward Newton Highlands), turn slight right onto Highland Ave., Highland Ave. becomes Needham ST., store is on your right.
