KAYAK ESSENTIALS CLINIC
Description
At Eastern Mountain Sports we are dedicated to making kayaking fun and available for all to experience. We do this by making sure our stores are stocked with our favorite selection of kayaks and accessories and that our staff is friendly and knowledgeable. In addition to this The Kayak School is excited to introduce an "Introduction to Kayak" series that will help take this process one step further by combining an instructor's seasoned outfitting advice with a how to "on the water" component. Our ACA National Certified instructors will be at hand on the showroom floor talking about the gear they know and use and then we will all travel to the water's edge for some paddling knowhow and experience. This workshop will focus on the first time buyer as well as the kayakers that have already got their feet wet! During our first hour we will cover the basic equipment and the wide range of choices kayakers have as they explore the showroom floor. Next we will move down to the water's edge and begin to talk about outfitting, skills and the basic strokes. Once we launch, relax and get use to the sensation of kayaking; we will then cover the essential strokes that will allow us to explore our local waterways. This class is designed to teach its participants about kayaking and then provide an experience that will take it to the next level. Our goal is to provide expert advice and instruction at our local stores so that the participants leave excited about planning their next adventure. At Eastern Mountain Sports Kayak School we provide a wide variety of classes, tours and programs that allow all kayakers progress within this exciting sport. Let's work together to see what adventure we can plan next!
**For full day instruction that includes basic strokes in addition to rescue technique, see Kayak 101: Strokes and Rescues. This comprehensive course will prepare you to move on to our intermediate and advanced level courses.
